The main driver of climate change is greenhouse gas emissions, particulary carbon dioxide from bburningfossil fuels. These gases trap heat in the atmoshere, leading to global warming. Other importent greenhouse gases includes methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases.
The greenhouse effect itself is a natural proces that keeps our planet warm enough to suport life. However, human activites have intensifyed this effect dramaticaly since the Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700s.
